Nya insatser mot människohandel/New resources in the fight against human trafficking!

Svenska dagbladet skriver den 11 april 2013 att Regeringen ger länsstyrelsen i Stockholm uppdrag att på nationell nivå samordna arbetet mot människohandel där det inte enbart rör sig om prostitution utan även till exempel organhandel och tvångsarbete.

Vidare skriver Svenska dagbladet att:

“Barn som är offer för människohandel drabbas extra hårt. Enligt en tidigare utredning misstänktes 166 barn ha utsatts för människohandel under åren 2009–2011. En tredjedel av dessa barn var asylsökande. Till detta kommer att ett antal asylsökande barn försvinner varje år. Det finns en risk att vissa av dessa försvunna barn utnyttjas av människohandlare. Därför har regeringen särskilt pekat på behovet av att skydda barn. Förbättrad samverkan mellan berörda myndigheter ökar möjligheterna att tidigt upptäcka och identifiera barn som är utsatta för eller riskerar att utsättas för människohandel och barn som är indirekt drabbade av människohandel.”

Sverige tar ett till steg framåt! Bra! Ingen människa ska behöva utsättas för att användas som en vara! Ingen människa är till salu!

Swedish goverment wants to colligate numbers of authorities in new efforts to fight human trafficking, not only on the perspective on trafficking and prostitution but also forced labour and trade of organ.

During 2009-2011 it´s estimated that 166 children in Sweden where subjected to human trafficking. Children are at higher risk to be exposed to trafficking and it´s why the goverment feels it´s a high priority to coordinate authorities to be able in a early stage identify the children whom are exposed or at a high risk to be exposed to human trafficking.

One step forward in the fight to end the human trafficking. No one should be exposed to trafficking or used as a commodity!

Något nytt normalt!/Something new normal!

Idag är det normala att människor säljs som varor i en hänsynslös handel där barn så unga som fyra år används som sexslavar. Barn utnyttjas som billig arbetskraft eller som barnsoldater. Egen intressen går före människors liv. I konflikter världen över där människors liv skördas vägrar andra länder gå in och agera på grund av egna intressen. Människor tvingas till svält, saknar rent dricksvatten och blir sjuka på grund av det. Listan kan göras lång men sammanfattas att människans värde hålls inte högt längre. Människans värde bör och ska vara okränkbart. Jag önskar att vi ska vända sättet att se på människor. Att varje människa är unik och värdefull och ska inte utnyttjas eller användas för sin egen vinst. Det finns många personer där ute som redan gör beundransvärda saker och kämpar för människors lika rätt och värde. Vi behöver bli fler. Att det nya normala är att varje barn får rätten att gå i skolan och äta sig mätt, att varje människa ska var fri och inte behöva utnyttjas som en vara. Att varje människa ska få vara frisk, fri från svält,en plats att kalla sitt hem,ha tillgång till rent dricksvatten och att få vara trygg. Än en gång kan man skriva en lång lista men sammanfattningsvis är att varje människa ska ha rätt till överlevnad, ett liv i frihet och respekt. Nu är det hög tid för något nytt normalt- att vi bryr oss om varandra och att en människas värde respekteras högt!

Today, it’s normal that people are sold as commodities in a reckless trading, where children in the age of four years are used as sex slaves. Children are exploited as cheap labor or as child soldiers. Private interests take precedence over human life. In conflicts around the world human lives are destroyed because other countries refuse to step in and act because they have private intresest in the country. People are forced to starvation, lthey ack clean drinking water and get sick because of it. The list goes on but summarized the human value is not kept high any longer. Human value should and must be inviolable. I wish that we should turn the way of looking at people. That each person is unique and valuable and should not be exploited or used for others profit. There are many people out there who are already doing admirable things and fighting for equal rights and value. We need to add more people to it, more people who fight for human rights worldwide. I hope that together we can reverse our way of looking at people. I want to see something new normal. The new normal is that every child get the right to go to school and enough food to eat, that every human should be free and not sold into human trafficking. That every human should have food enough,a place to call their home, clean drinking water, be healty and safe. Once again, you can write a long list but in summary, is that every person should have the right to survival, a life of freedom and respect. Now it’s the time for something new normal- that we care about each other and that a human´s value is highly respected!

The train stations/rail ways is their home

I found this information about children living on the train station in India and the statistics of how many they are and what they are exposed to when they have the train station as their home. I actually found a magazine on the metro the other day and they wrote about this swedish girl named Anna Fischer who has recently won the “best Director of a Documentary” at the ITN Distribution Film Festival, Los Angeles, California, USA for “Lucky Express”  a documentary of the children on the train stations in India. I found the trailer on Youtube and the I was happy also to find the website of the movie. and on that page I found the information about the runaway kids who live in the rail stations in India.This breaks my heart.India once stole my heart and also having travelled in India and meeting a friend and also getting to know new friends, India is for me a very dear place and close to my heart. Seeing how the children are so vulnerable and exposed to so many dangers situations make my heart break into peaces.

“No one knows the exact number of abandoned and abused runaway children who have been forced to live their lives in the train stations of India. Social workers have counted up to two hundred children arriving at the larger stations every day.  According to UNICEF, there are approximately eleven million child runaways in India. More than 70% of these children are less than fourteen years old, and it is not uncommon to see children as young as three year olds among them. They work as soon as they are able to speak. 

Why are they found at the train stations? The stations provide access to public toilets, water and—most importantly—leftover food and opportunities to make money. Children are involved in a variety of different work at the train stations, including begging, vending, rag-picking, performing for travelers, cleaning and sweeping, shoe shining, and selling refilled bottles of water. Bottle collecting is one of the most common enterprises: empty water bottles are abandoned by passengers, gathered by the children, and brought to local recycling houses, where the kids receive no more than a pittance for their efforts. At the very most, children might make 150 rupees (ca US$3) a day from bottle collecting—spent immediately either on food or on such goods as  glue for sniffing. Money can never be saved, of course; what isn’t spent is usually stolen by other children, by gang members or pimps. An estimated 90% of the children are engaged in substance abuse.

These children are in constant danger. It has been estimated that it takes an average of twenty minutes after arrival at a station before a child is approached by an older sexual predator, or is offered drugs in exchange for sex. Some children have to prostitute themselves to gang members in order to ensure themselves a somewhat safe place to sleep at the station. Life is hard, a daily struggle to survive. As the children get older,their only chance of survival is to to join the gangs. Life at the train stations is as tough as it gets for a kid in India.”

It feels a little bit hopeless to read such dreadful information about how children are living in this world but I know there is hope. A friend of mine works in Kolkata with this complex situation. And another friend of mine work in the north part of India and her family has started a home for vulnerable and abandoned girls.My dear friend and reader this make my heart much more relief to know that I have friends fighting for children in India but there is still so much to do for all the kids around the world.

Let us fight for the right for every child!

“TODAY WE ARE LAUNCHING OUR NEW CAMPAIGN ASKING KRAFT- WHEN WILL TOBERLONE BE FREE FROM CHILD TRAFFICKING?

Do you have a passion for all things chocolaty? Are you creative? Then you can use your artistic talents to make a difference; create an image for our Kraft campaign.

Kraft source a significant amount of their cocoa from the Ivory Coast where the Worst Forms of Child Labour and child-trafficking and been reported.

Since Kraft acquired Cadbury, who had made a previous commitment to Fairtrade, there has been very little new movement on their part. Kraft is the world’s biggest buyer of cocoa; in 2010 they bought 440.000 tons of cocoa but only 7% was certified as Traffik-Free.[1]  Mars, Nestlé, Ferrero and Hershey have all made public statements of some kind or another regarding their commitment to eliminate trafficking in their supply chain. However, it’s been quiet from Kraft for a long time.

Being the world’s largest buyer of cocoa, they should be leading, not lagging.

So, we’re asking Kraft for Traffik-Free chocolate across all their range starting with Toblerone- one of their best known and their most distinctive chocolate bars around the world.

What you can do

We’re asking as many people as possible to create and share their own messages to Kraft in the form of an image. It could be a photo, drawing or graphic designs accompanied by our slogan ‘When will Toblerone be Traffik-Free?’

You could be the world’s best artist, or you might not have picked up a pencil since art class at school, either way raise your paintbrushes, mice or cameras in the air as this time we’re doing it for a reason!

The process is simple:

1. Design an image around our slogan ‘When will Toblerone be Traffik-Free?’
2. Make sure you read the terms and conditions so we can use your image and it won’t get us into trouble.
3. Send the image to use at info@stopthetraffik.org

We’re going to share the images with all our friends and networks through social media so as many people as possible will hear about trafficking in the chocolate industry and what they can do to stop it. You can help us pile on the pressure; like, re-pin and share your own and other people’s images to spread the word.

On 1^st November the STOP THE TRAFFIK team will choose a winning image which to go on our Kraft campaign materials, including our website and our activist letters.

If you think you can come up with an image that will make Kraft act, then send them in.

The competition will close on the 1st November. Let’s get creative!

Human trafficking in Sweden/Människohandel i Sverige

“I går häktades en 43-årig man misstänkt för människohandel.Samtidigt anmälde ytterligare tre personer att de lurats hit av honom.Mannen greps i torsdags efter att bärplockare i lägret i Mehedeby anmält honom. I går häktades han på sannolika skäl, vilket är den starkare misstankegraden, misstänkt för människohandel.

Han nekar till anklagelserna.Det var i torsdags som tre personer i 20-årsåldern lämnade in en polis anmälan mot 43-åringen som är bulgarisk medborgare. Enligt dem har de blivit erbjudna att komma till Sverige för att plocka bär. De har blivit lovade lön, boende i lägenhet och mat.Men i stället har de tvingats bo i lägret i Mehedeby.Mot kvällen i går anmälde ytterligare tre personer att de också ska ha blivit lurade av mannen. Den 43-åriga mannen har tidigare varit åtalad för människohandel, enligt TT. Även då rörde misstankarna att han skulle ha utnyttjat bärplockare, men han friades på den åtalspunkten.

Efter larm på larm om missförhållanden i svenska skogar infördes förra året nya riktlinjer som gjorde det svårare för företag att utnyttja utomeuropeiska bärplockare.Arbetsgivarna måste nu visa att de ska ge bärplockarna en lön, oavsett bär tillgång, för att bär plockarna ska få tillstånd att arbeta i Sverige. Men EU-medborgare behöver inget arbets tillstånd och innefattas därför inte av de nya rikt linjerna.Hittills har Migrations verket gett tillstånd till drygt 5 600 utom europeiska plockare. Men hur många de europeiska plockarna är vet ingen. Och det är något som oroar bäruppköpare inför den hög säsong som nu drar i gång.

– Med den infrastruktur vi har i dag klarar vi av runt 4 000 bärplockare. Men nu när vi kommer få betydligt fler så ökar risken otroligt mycket att miss förhållanden uppstår då det kanske inte finns till räckligt med vare sig godkända bostäder, bilar eller bär, säger Tommy Innala, vd på bär företaget Polarica, till TT.” källa;

The exploitation of children/Utnyttjandet av barn.

Reality: Every 2 minutes another child is exploited in the commercial sex industry.

Truth: Together we can and need to fight this sick industry that exploits children,women and men. Your contribution to end human trafficking and other social injustices is much needed and necessary. Join a organization who works to combat the inhumane industry of selling people as a product.

Verkligheten: Efter varje 2 minuters period blir ett barn exploaterat in i den kommersiella sexindustrin.

Sanning: Tillsammans kan vi och behöver vi kämpa emot denna sjuka industri som exploaterar barn,kvinnor och män. Din insats för att hindra människohandel och annan grym social orättvisa är mycket viktig och välbehövlig. Human trafficking is the illegal trade of human beings for the purposes of commercial sexual exploitation or reproductive slavery, forced labor, or a modern-day form of slavery.

How to combat and end this illicit and inhumane phenomenon? It´s starts with you and me, willing to make a change! We can´t accept how people are treated in this world today. Every person has the right to a secure and dignified life.

Människohandel är en illegal handel med människor i syfte att utnyttja dem för kommersiell sexuell exploatering, tvångsslaveri eller en modern form av slaveri.

Hur kan vi stoppa denna olagliga och omänskliga företeelsen? Det börjar med dig och mig, villiga att skapa en förändring. Vi kan inte acceptera hur människor blir behandlade i vår värld idag. Alla människor har rätt till ett säkert och värdigt liv.
